Wausaukee Invites Veterans To March Or Ride In July 2 Parade

At the Wausaukee village board meeting on Monday, June 20, Village President Pat Tracy reported that the Marinette County Fair Association is hosting the Independence Day Celebration at the Marinette County Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 2.

Tracy stated that the Village is seeking active and/or retired military service members to participate in the July 2 parade. Parker-Jose-Stockwell Legion Auxiliary Celebrates Memorial Day

Issue Date: June 23, 2022

The American Legion Post / Unit 66 of Athelstane/Silver Cliff held a Memorial Day Service followed by the Annual Picnic on Sunday, May 29th at the Silver Cliff Picnic Area. The flag of Post 66 member Al Leurquin was presented by his family and was raised in his honor to be flown for the remainder of the day. Post 66 Chaplain Dennis Prah read the opening prayer. Athelstane Raises Building Permit Fees, Adds New Cemetery Rules

During reports near the start of the Athelstane Town Board meeting on Tuesday, June 14, Scott Durian reported recent discussions by the Planning Commission had included a possible recommendation to set a minimum lot frontage of 150 feet on public roads.

Amberg Adopts Sex Offender Ordinance

Issue Date: June 23, 2022

An ordinance regulating sex offender residences in the town of Amberg was adopted by unanimous vote of the Amberg Town Board at its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 14. Full text of the ordinance is to be published in The Peshtigo Times.

Nine Suring Students In Summer Credit Recovery

Issue Date: June 23, 2022

At the Suring School Board meeting on Wednesday, June 8, Principal Zachara Beeksma reported that nine students are enrolled in the newly implemented Rural Virtual Academy for summer credit recovery and that Suring seniors received over $60,000 in athletic and academic scholarships. He highlighted that Lena High School graduated 25 students in May.
