Re: Horse Trails in Marinette County
Marinette County now has two horse trails and rustic camping areas.
Thanks to Pete Villas, Marinette County Forestry and Parks Administrator, without his support and assistance these trails would not be possible.
Generous grants from Wisconsin Horse Council made it possible to purchase trail markers, picnic tables, fire rings and a kiosk for both trails.
Middle Inlet Horse Trail and Camp is ready for riding and camping, made possible by volunteer hours by members of Clip Clop Trail Riders.
Middle Inlet will host an open house Oct. 15-16. The public is urged to come and visit, ride, camp, and hear about plans for future improvements. Directions are take Hwy. X to Lake Mary Road, left on Forest Road 901, go 2 miles and camp will be on left. Just follow the signs.
Horseshoe Falls Equestrian Camp and Trails in Dunbar, is a project of the Northern Saddle Club of Florence. The current project for Horseshoe Falls Camp is installing an outhouse. This is made possible thru a grant from Wisconsin Horse Council and with the assistance of Marinette County and volunteers from Northern Saddle Club.
Wisconsin Horse Council sponsors a 4-day Trail Building class in the Madison area. Northern Saddle Club and Clip Clop Trail Riders Club have both sent members to attend. The class provided extensive information on the proper building and maintenance of trails, water crossings, and bridges.
Both clubs welcome new members and willing volunteers. Northern Saddle Club has a web page, www.northernsaddleclub.org and Clip Clop Trail Club can be contacted at email@example.com.
