Titans Trample Visting Vikings
The Lena/STAA Titans played host to the Gibraltar Vikings Friday night in an area 8-man football contest, sending the invading Vikings home after a 44-0 shutout.
The Titans certainly didn't have trouble moving the ball Friday evening, going 315 yards over four quarters. Of those 315 yards, 164 were gained on the ground while the other 151 were obtained through the air.
The Vikings on the other hand, found nothing but dead ends on the football field of Lena as the Titans held them to 160 yards of total offense. 106 of those yards were gained on the ground.
The Titans didn't waste anytime in building a lead as Dakota Blasing returned the opening kickoff 70 yards to the touchdown. Austin Lange punched in the two point run.
Hunter Borchert connected with Jack Farley from 14 yards out for the games second touchdown. Jake Staidl added the two point conversion run to make it 16-0.
Riley Marquardt helped to further build the lead before the half, crossing the goal line from four yards out. Farley pulled in the two point conversion pass to bring the Titans to a 24-0 lead.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Titans resumed the rout with a four yard Staidl run. Borchert carried in the conversion run.
With 10 minutes left in the game, Lange added his second score of the night, this time on a long jaunt from 27 yards out. The Titans final score came off the legs of Blasing who carried in the teedee from 18 yards, bringing the Titans to a 44-0 lead with time waning away.
