Menominee Win Streak Continues
The Menominee Maroons came out on top in a close contest against the hosting Escanaba Eskymos last Friday 28-14.
Keifer Rasner got the Maroons on the board first with a four yard scoring rush to give Menominee a 6-0 lead.
Escanaba answered in the waning second of the first quarter with a 19 yard passing score from Justin Popelka to Tyler Willette. After the extra point kick the Eskymos took the 7-6 lead.
Levi Kempka brought the Maroons back to the lead in the second quarter pulling in a pass from Ethan Mileski from seven yards out.
Again the Eskymos answered, this time on a two yard goal line buster.
But before the half ended Menominee plugged out two scores to take the edge. The first, a hook and ladder play that saw Mileksi receive the pass for an eight yard gain before pitching it to Rasner who took it all the way to the house for a 47 yard score, giving the Maroons a 20-14 lead going into the intermission.
Menominee capped off the night with a fourth quarter score by Sam Larson who returned an Eskymo fumble 34 yards for the score.
