Re: Menominee River/Shaky Lakes Back Forty Mine

A public meeting will be held at Stephenson High School on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m., according to an announcement by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The public can hear comments from people living in the area affected by the proposed, perhaps already "decided upon' mining permit application submitted by Aquila Resources, Inc., a "foreign' mining and minerals processing corporation.

At the expense of appearing to sound "disrespectful' I believe it's extremely important to understand the purpose and intent of the State of Michigan, its Governor, other elected officials and people in charge of the DEQ, DNR, and other propaganda generating agencies, sometimes referred to as "Economic Development' or some other such politically proper sounding name intended to make middle class citizens feel their tax dollars are working for their best interest.

Everyone is encouraged to attend the meeting, stating their objections as strongly as they can and ask the people putting on this "dig & pony show' why the hundreds of questions already asked were never answered, why their concerns were never addressed and how come the DEQ and DNR spent the last few years helping Aquila Resources fine time its permit application and helping them physically prepare the 580-acre site on which they are putting the Menominee River/Shaky Lakes Mine (Aquila's Back Forty Project).

I believe it's crystal clear the public is being used to satisfy the State of Michigan's very subtle but very obvious purpose of making the voting and taxpaying public believe their comments are important and count when they announce their approval of granting a final permit to Aquila Resources to pollute the waters of the Menominee River, our drinking water, Shaky Lakes the underground waters and streams for miles around, destroying the countryside, contaminating the air and destroying the tourism industry at the only successful tourist park in Menominee County.

And later on when some sort of disaster pops up like Fling, Michigan's water disaster they can lay the finger of blame on their partners; the Federal government, State of Wisconsin for their subtle silent endorsement, God, or the public, as the responsible persons who had a voice or were privileged to listen to all of the reasons of why they, the State, were doing things for the good of all its residents and whether they agreed or disagreed was unimportant.

Ninety-eight percent (98%) of the state's property owners in proposed mining locations are vehemently opposed to the intrusion of the Menominee River/Shaky Lakes mine and minerals processing operations but this opposition has been and continues to "fall on deaf ears' because the states one-sided economic policy (one sided because all of the added millions of dollars of economic prosperity costs are born by the state's taxpayers and property owners.) After all the State does what its people tell them to do. Sound Familiar?
