Suring's Post Season
Comes to Abrupt End
After winning their first M&O Conference title in 32 years, the Suring Eagles were sent packing Thursday evening when they fell to the visiting Gresham Tigers.
Gresham took the early lead defeating Suring 25-17, and were answered by a feisty return attack by the Eagles in game two, 25-7. But after the rally, Gresham held their ground winning the final two sets 25-23 and 25-10.
Katie Stegeman led the Eagles with 13 kills along with Nikki Niemann who chipped in another eight kills.
in Second Round
After beating Freedom last Tuesday, the Peshtigo Bulldogs traveled to Oconto Falls to take on the first seeded Panthers. Oconto Falls showed why they earned the one seed with a 3-0 sweep of the Bulldogs. The scores were 25-12, 25-14 and 25-7.
Peshtigo's Claire Neumann finished the match with seven kills and four digs. Ashley Dudka piled up 11 assists, five blocks, three digs and a kill. Emma Frederickson earned herself six blocks, three kills and an ace. Shae Tonn recorded six digs and two kills. Madi Martin added seven blocks and two kills. Megan Behnke notched eight digs and an ace and Grace Johnson had a kill, a block and a dig.
Oconto Falls advanced to take on Seymour for the regional championship Saturday afternoon. The third seeded Seymour upset the Panthers in a sweep, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-22. Oconto Falls' Shelby Coron smashed 13 kills and Jenny Krueger pitched in with six. Bailey Magnin's 21 digs led the team while Alex Barribeau added 10.
to Blue Devils
The Crivitz Wolverines played host to the Oconto Blue Devils last Thursday in a WIAA Regional contest that saw the Blue Devils victorious after four 25-23, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-9.
Chloe Gruszynski showed her worth amongst the Wolverine squad, getting seven kills, seven digs, eight blocks and one ace. Talor Long posted five kills and five digs while Emalee Johnsen got a team leading 10 blocks along with her three kills, one dig and two assists. Laken Ducaine had nine assists, one dig and one ace.
Elcho Ends Niagara's
Post Season in Three
The Elcho Hornets varsity volleyball team successfully moved on in the WIAA Div. 4 playoff trail by knocking off the Niagara Badgers in three sets, 25-23, 26-24 and 25-6.
Leading the net assault for the Badgers was Jasmine Racine, who added up seven kills, one block, 12 digs and an ace. Peyton Aderman scooped up Elcho's kill attempts for 25 digs, an assist and one kill. Alexandria Gill blocked four Elcho scoring attempts while also posting four kills and three digs. Abigail McCarthy had 13 assists along with her one kill and one dig.
