MSHAA Playoffs - Menominee Moves onto State Semis With Dominating Win Over Reed City
The Menominee Maroons will be taking a drive northward this coming Saturday to play Frakenmuth at the Superior Dome of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, and if victorious will be set to pay a visit to Ford Field in Detroit for the State Championship. All this was made possible thanks to a commanding 41-14 win over host Reed City last Saturday.
Reed City came into the contest with an 11-1 record had their hands full containing the tough Maroon ground game which blasted its way to a whopping 358 yards. The attack was led by Sam Larsen with 197 yards on 17 carries. Ethan Mileski added 103 on 13 carries.
But thats' not to say the airmail wasn't being delivered for the Maroons as well Mileski posted 160 yards on an 11 of 16 effort.
Larsen got on the Maroons on the board early, scoring on their first drive from 11 yards back. Before the first quarter could wrap up Mileski connected with an open Tanner Mathias for a 46 yard teedee to bring the tally to 14-0.
Larsen struck again in the second quarter when he fought his way through the Reed City line for a two yard rushing score.
Mileski increased the lead before the intermission on a completed touchdown pass to Jacob Rivard to bring the Maroons to a 33-0 lead.
Reed City's Logan Staub struck late in the third on a 49 yard teedee run.
Larsen got in one more time, scoring on a three yard run to bring the score to 40-8.
Staub posted the game's final score on a six yard goal line breaker.
Reed City's Staub finished the evening with 154 yards on 21 carries.
