Coleman Undefeated

at Red Raider Duals


Coleman's wrestling team won all four of its team matchups to win the Red Raider Duals in Pulaski on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Coleman won its first match vs. Milwaukee Madison 84-0. Caleb Gross (113), Bryce Karban (152), Devin Schulte (160), Jordan Blanchard (170), Abe Nowak (182), Gunnar Patz (195) and Jake Zeitler (220) each earned pin victories, while Koltin Grzybowski (106), Kasey Casper (120), Billy Ganter (126), Jake Baldwin (132), Ty Hoffman (138), John Bieber (145) and Brock Martinson (285) each won by forfeit.

The next matchup proved to be a little tougher for the Cougars, as Coleman was pushed by Hortonville, though they managed to win 42-25. Grzybowski (106), Casper (120), Patz (195) and Zeitler (220) each won by pin. Martinson (285) pinned his man as well. Ganter (126) won by technical fall, while Nowak (182) won by majority decision, and Baldwin (132) eked out a 9-8 decision victory.

Meanwhile Hortonville's Eric Barnett (113) won a close 3-1 decision over Gross, Joe Cleereman Jr. (138) defeated Hoffman by majority decision, Nathan Lichtfuss pinned Bieber (145), Colin Schuler (152) barely edged Karban 3-2, Kirkland Hills (160) pinned Schulte, and Elliot Luker (170) won 7-2 over Blanchard.

Things got even closer in the third matchup, as Coleman faced off with the home Pulaski squad, winning 40-30. Grzybowski (106) won by technical fall, Gross (113) won a 5-0 decision, Casper (126) moved up a class to win by majority decision 10-0. Ganter also moved up to 132, winning a forfeit. Jake Baldwin moved up to 138 and won by a 11-1 majority decision. Karban (152) and Blanchard (170) also won by forfeit victory. Martinson (285) grabbed his second straight pin as well.

For Pulaski, Cole Gille (120) won by forfeit, Logan Bellow (145) pinned Bieber, Jake Gille (160) pinned Schulte, Peter Karcz (182) beat Nowak by decision, Brandon King (195) won a 12-6 decision over Patz, and Derek Gibbons (220) pinned Zeitler.

In the first place match, Coleman dispatched Freedom 41-27 to claim the title. Grzybowski (106) won his second straight technical fall, 20-5. Gross (113) won his second straight decision, 7-2 as well. Baldwin (132) and Bieber (145) each won by forfeit. Karban moved up to 160 and won a 10-3 decision. Patz (195) and Zeitler (220) each pinned their opponents as well.

Freedom's victories came via Grant vosters (120), who won a close one over Casper, Mitch Garvey, who took a 7-1 decision over Ganter at 132. Sam Peters (138) took a 19-7 majority decision over Hoffman, Evan Vosters won by technical fall over Schulte, who moved back down to 152. Matt Verhasselt (182) pinned Nowak, and Alex Rohan (285) pinned Martinson.

Even with the loss, Coleman Coach Kevin Casper lauded Martinson's performance, as he had two pins on the day. He "did an outstanding job at 285 filling in for Donovan [Salewski] and giving up quite a bit of weight besides," Casper said.

Overall, Casper was pleased with his team's performance. Being our first time on the mats this year, I thought the kids wrestled excellently. We had a very good day beating several state-caliber teams.

Gross, Casper, Ganter, Karban, Blanchard, Patz, Zeitler and Martinson each went 3-1 on the day.

Other teams at the event were Baraboo, D.C. Everest, Mauston, Milwaukee Bradley Tech, Mosinee and Two Rivers.



Peshtigo Competes

in Seymour Duals


Peshtigo's wrestling team dropped four straight at the Seymour Varsity Duals on Saturday, Dec. 3, struggling to gain any ground in the face of limited numbers, dropping many points in forfeit losses.

Peshtigo lost its first showdown with Bonduel on Saturday morning, 39-30. Peshtigo got wins from Zack Wauters (113), Nick Parrett (120), Max Rauch (145), Cam Lepkowski (195) and Gavin Grissette (220), all by pin.

Bonduel's Jordan Boldt (126), Isaiah Maron (132) and Chris Salerno (138) each took forfeits from the Bulldogs, and there were two double forfeits where neither team had a wrestler.

Carter Siolka (106) pinned Peshtigo's Kyle Rivet, Jacob Banker (182) pinned Phillip Graves of Peshtigo, and Seth Matz pinned Bulldog Paul Lemke at 285. Josh Cruz won the 170 match over Steven Hammer by decision, 7-0.

Peshtigo's second match was not nearly as close, as Neenah beat the Bulldogs 63-15 with help from forfeits. Peshtigo's lone winners were Wauters (113), Lepkowski (195) and Lemke (220). Lemke pinned Caleb Feavel and Lepkowski beat Brexton Bostwick 10-3. Wauters won by forfeit.

For Neenah, Seth Geiger beat Rauch (170) by a close 6-4 decision. Matthew Hall (120) pinned Parrett, Isaiah McCormick pinned Hammer at 170, and Blake VanVooren (285) was pinned by Luke Higgins.

The Bulldogs made their third match against Seymour close, despite giving up 30 points to forfeit in their 48-36 defeat. Wauters (113), Parrett (120), Lepkowski and VanVooren (285) all pinned their opponents, while Rivet (106) and Lemke (220) each claimed a forfeit victory.

Peshtigo lost its final dual of the day against Waupun, though only five matches took place. Of those five, Peshtigo won two. Rivet (106) won a 7-4 decision and Brissette (220) pinned his man. Wauters (113), Parrett (120) and Rauch (145) each won forfeits.



Oshkosh West Wins

Crivitz Wrestling Meet


Crivitz, the Northwoods Storm (Florence/Niagara) and Marinette wrestled at the Crivitz Team Duals over the weekend, facing off with Hortonville, Oshkosh West and Southern Door.

Crivitz started off with a 60-12 loss to Southern Door, while Marinette and the Northwoods Storm battled to the finish, with the Storm pulling out a 28-24 victory.

Crivitz rebounded in round two, beating Hortonville 36-24, while Marinette would drop one to Southern Door's strong squad, 57-13. Oshkosh West handled the Storm easily, winning 66-29.

In the third round, Marinette got its lone win, beating Hortonville by a slim margin of 6, 30-24. Northwoods Storm lost to Southern Door 53-18 and Oshkosh West beat Crivitz 36 to 24.

Crivitz squared off with Marinette in the fourth round, getting its second of two wins in a 30-18 battle. The Northwoods Storm took one from Hortonville by one single point, winning 25-24, and the top two teams faced off as Oshkosh West beat Southern Door 39-27.

The final round of the day yielded a Northwoods Storm 36-18 victory over Crivitz, while Oshkosh West handled Marinette 48-18 and Southern Door beat Hortonville 42-33.

West went 5-0 on the day, Southern Door took four of its five, Northwoods Storm won three of its five, Crivitz won two of five, Marinette got one win and Hortonville lost all five of its duals.

For Tristan Mascarette of the Northwoods Storm won all five of his matches at the 120 weight class. Marinette's Sean Holk (160) did not lose in five matches.

Four Oshkosh West wrestlers went 5-0, including Logan Grota (126), Nolan Martell (182), Kevin Leos (170) and Dylan Kimball (285).



Cougars Dominate

Double Dual


As many have come to expect, the Coleman Cougars dominated once again on the wrestling mats. This time, Coleman and Gillett/Suring were matched up against Bonduel and Wittenberg-Birnamwood in a double dual hosted at Suring High School. Coleman controlled Bonduel 69-9 before taking down Wittenberg-Birnamwood 55-19. Gillett/Suring was also able to knock off Bonduel by a score of 46-36 before losing to W-B 57-21.

Jordan Blanchard (170), Kasey Casper (120), Jake Baldwin (132), and Devin Schulte (160) secured forfeit wins for the Cougars against Bonduel. The Bears' Jacob Banker won by a 7-1 decision over Abe Nowak at 182 lbs. before Adrien Keiler (B) pinned Gunnar Patz (C) in the second period at the 195-weight class. At 220, Jacob Zeitler (C) pinned Collin Wussow (B) in the first period. Donovan Salewski (C) took care of Seth Matz (B) via a pin in the second period at 285. At 165, Kolton Grzybowski (C) pinned Mike Smith (B) in just 50 seconds. Caleb Gross (C) got on the pin train in his 113 match against Darren Tippett (B). At 126, Billy Ganter (C) won in a sudden victory, 4-2, over Jordan Boldt (B). Ty Hoffman (C) won the 138-pound match by pinning Chris Salerno (B) in the second period. In the final match, Bryce Karban (C) pinned Moises Lagunes (B) in 47 seconds.

Against Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Kasey Casper (120) and Bryce Karban (152) won via forfeits for Coleman. Stetson Potrykus (WB) pinned Devin Schulte (C) in the 160-lb. match. Jordan Blanchard (C) won the 170-pound bout over Dylan Sprague (WB) via a pin in 1:08. The 182-pound match was taken by Alex Peplinski (WB) over Abe Nowak (C) in a major decision 15-4. Kyle Premeau (WB) pinned Gunnar Patz (C) in the 195-pound match in the second period. At 220, Jacob Zeitler (C) pinned his opponent, Allen Uttecht (WB), in the first period. Donovan Salewski (C) secured a victory in the heavyweight bout over Jacob Cloud (WB) via a pin. Koltin Grzybowski (C) tech fouled Chad Moegenberg (WB) 18-3 in the 106-weight class. Caleb Gross (C) used just 59 seconds to pin Alex Lorbecke (WB) at 113. 126-pound Billy Ganter (C) tech fouled Zach Johnson (WB) 17-2. Jake Baldwin (C) secured a pin of Ty Zeinart (WB) in 53 seconds at 132 pounds. Devin Paszek (WB) took the decision 3-1 over Ty Hoffman (C) in the 138-lb. bout. At 145, John Bieber (C) took care of Logan Muscha (WB) by way of decision, 7-4.

Gillett/Suring's Brice Winkler (160), Wyatt Herzog (106), and Sam Davis (145) took home forfeit victories in the match over Bonduel. At 170, Trevor Kohls (GS) pinned Josh Cruz (B) in 1:10. Jacob Banker (B) won the 182-lb. match over Austin Perkins (GS) by way of a pin. Adrien Keiler (B) beat Ben Burt (GS) at 195 lbs. by a pin in 1:10. At 220, Dante Carlson (GS) pinned Colin Wussow (B). Nate Davis (GS) pinned Darren Tippett (B) in the third period during the 120-pound match. At 126, Jordan Boldt (B) pinned Sam Lemens (GS) in the second period. 132 pounder Preston Fischer (GS) make quick work of Isaiah Maron (B) by pinning him in 27 seconds. Chris Salerno (B) pinned Deven Boyd (GS) in the second period during the 138-pound bout. At 152, Reid Winkler (GS) defeated Moises Lagunes (B) by major decision, 17-3.

Nate Davis secured the only forfeit victory for Gillett/Suring against Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Stetson Potrykus (WB) pinned Trevor Kohls (GS) at the 1:35 mark during the 170-pound bout. The 182-lb. match was taken by Dylan Sprague (WB) via a pin over Austin Perkins (GS) in the second period. Alex Peplinski (WB) pinned Ben Burt (GS) in the 195-pound bout during the first period. At 220, Kyle Premeau (WB) beat Dante Carlson (GS) by way of decision, 9-2. 106-pounder Chad Moegenberg (WB) pinned Wyatt Herzog (GS) in 40 seconds. Sam Lemens (GS) took down Zach Johnson (WB) via a pin during the 126-lb. bout. At 132, Preston Fischer (GS) pinned Ty Zeinart (WB) during the first period. Will Urquhart (WB) pinned 138-pounder Deven Boyd (GS) in the second period. Jeremy Landowski (WB) secured a pin in the third period against Sam Davis (GS) in the 145-pound match. Reid Winkler (GS) defeated Logan Muscha (WB) by decision 5-2 for the 152-lb. bout. At 160, Preston Bagley (WB) pinned Brice Winkler (GS) during the second period.
