Auxiliary 66 Has 56 Paid Members
The Athelstane/Silver Cliff American Legion Auxiliary Unit 66 met at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7th at the Silver Cliff Town Hall. The meeting was called to order by President Dee Farley. Chaplain Lois Haase offered the opening prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble. Treasurer Priscilla Maeder gave her report which was filed for audit. The current paid membership is 56. Members can pay 2017 dues to Membership Chairman Deanna Farley or Treasurer Priscilla Maeder. Unit 66 has been participating in the I SPY Stars & Stripes Program. Unit members have handed out 10 Certificates of Appreciation to business owners that have the American Flag displayed outside. A replacement flag is given to those with worn flags.
The Ninth District 2017 Spring Conference will be at The Woods Banquet Hall on April 29th. A decision is to be made about what job for the conference in January. All units in the district will have a "Show & Tell" demonstration about their unit activities. Plus Chili Fest activities will be reported for the demonstration.
The 2017 Calendar of Events were distributed. The Unit will not participate in the Bowling Team this year. It would require an overnight stay because of the distance to travel. In other business Unit 66 Junior Members who apply for the $1,000 scholarship will be given consideration over non-members. All applicants will be required to meet the same criteria however. Unit 66 will sponsor two and possibly three Badger Girls this year. Those chosen to attend will receive their notifications in the next few months.
Chaplain Lois Haase offered a closing prayer for peace. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m. and a light lunch was served.
