Elizabeth (LaCourt) Allen, 101, of Algoma, passed away Friday, Jan. 27.
Born Aug. 25, 1915, in the Town of Little River, Oconto County, to the late Joseph and Sadonia (Heurion) LaCourt, she graduated from Oconto High School in 1933 and then went to Hibbing, Mn. to live with her sister.
She moved to Oconto Falls in 1935 and lived there for 23 years. She took business courses at Oconto Falls High School and worked at Falls Paper and Power Company and was secretary at Midland Co-op and Beam Chemical Company.
She married Allee Robert Allen on Dec. 26, 1945 at Grace Lutheran Parsonage in Green Bay and the family moved to Algoma in 1963. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1968. She was secretary at Algoma Elementary School for 17 years, retiring in 1986.
A member of the United Methodist Church, she was financial secretary for 14 years and coordinated the newsletter for 16 years.
She is survived by a son, Larry Allen, Algoma and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, Allee, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred Ohswaldt of Nashtah; three sisters, her twin sister, Margaret (Camilla Bero) and and Mildred Bero, both of Menominee, Mi. and Evelyn MacMiller, Encino Ca. and six brothers, Wesley, Russell and Ellis, all of Milwaukee and Francis, Erol and Clarence, all of Oconto.
Friends and relatives visited at Algoma United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Pat Knutson officiated with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Oconto. Memorials can be made to Algoma United Methodist Church. Wiesner and Massart Funeral Home of Algoma assisted the family with arrangements.
