Michael A. Hryshkanych, 67, of Pembine, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24 at home.
Born July 12, 1949 in Red Bank, N.J., to Emil and Lillian (Wellner) Hryshkanych, he attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill. for a B.S. in Forestry and also for graduate classes. On April 12, 1975, he married Ruth Elaine Seashore in Illinois.
He was Director of Lake Lundgren Bible Camp for 40 years. His first love being, Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior, he loved creation and spent a lot of time outdoors in all seasons for sports and work projects. A humble man of integrity and compassion, his second love was family.
A member of Carney Evangelical Free Church, he was loved and appreciated by his church family, camp family and local community and had influence around the world.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Jason (Heather) Hryshkanych; a granddaughter; a daughter, Sarah Hryshkanych; his mother, Lillian Hryshkanych; two sisters, Joanne Rizzo and Sue Wiecke and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emil and a sister, Christine.
Family received friends at Carney Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 3 p.m. until time of a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. Visitation continued at the church on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 2 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 5 p.m. Pastor Bob Donaldson officiated followed by a luncheon. Burial was in Pembine. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson assisted the family with arrangements.
