Leona (Goldschmidt) Peot Berg, 101, formerly of Menominee, Mi., passed away Sunday, Feb. 5 at her home.
Born Sept. 25, 1915 in Lena, to Gustav and Olga Goldschmidt, she was the last of 14 children in the Goldschmidt family. She married George Peot in 1935 and he preceded her in death in 1961. They lived in Chicago, Ill. and Green Bay before moving to the Coleman area where they farmed. In 1958, she married Einar Berg, who preceded her in death in 1961.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Tom) Neumann; sons, David (Kathy) Peot, Greg (Peggy) Bergand and Chris (Cheri) Berg; a son-in-law, Ray (Rose Marie) Kamps; a daughter-in-law, Rita Berg; 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren; a granddaughter and caretaker, Amy Heil Irwin and a special friend, Debbie Durocher.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Phyllis Heil, Beverly Berg Kamps, Tom Berg, Rodney Berg and Einar Berg Jr.; daughters-in-law, Letty Berg and Judy Berg; a son-in-law, Chuck Heil; grandchildren, Tim Heil and Einar Berg and siblings.
Friends may call at Bethel Lutheran Church in Menominee, Mi. on Thursday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 1 p.m. Rev. Scott Ehle will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee. Donations can be made to The American Diabetes Association or research for Retinitis Pigmentosa. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
