Gaylord H. King
Gaylord H. King, 92, formerly of Peshtigo, passed away Jan. 17 at the Luther Home in Marinette where he was a resident.
Born July 13, 1924, to the late Herbert J. and Belauh (Bowman) King, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He married the love of his life, the former Charlotte M. Couvillion on July 20, 1946 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2015.
He was a Golden Gloves Boxer and worked with his father in the family owned and operated Deep Rock Gas Station in Peshtigo. A former Marinette County Board member, he also volunteered on the Peshtigo Fire Department and Silver Cliff Rescue Squad and served as Chaplain for the Athelstane Silver Cliff American Legion Post 66.
He is survived by a daughter, Kaye (Wayne) Angi; two sons, Richard (Carol) King and Kevin (Diane) King; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Robert "Cubby" (Patty) Couvillion; a special niece and nephew, Lon Harrand and Debbie Nichols and many other nieces; nephews and special friends.
Family will receive relatives and friends at Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home in Peshtigo on Thursday, Feb. 16 from noon until time of a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Pastor Lin Wittmann will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. Donations can be made to the American Legion Post 66 in Athelstane or the Peshtigo Methodist Church.
