Guy Jordan Erb, Jr.
Guy Jordan Erb, Jr., 69, of Suring, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7 with his family by his side.
Born June 1, 1947, to the late Guy Sr. and Opal (Tousey) Erb in Suring, he served in the United States Marines and was deployed to Vietnam in 1966 where he received the Purple Heart. He married Kathleen DeMaster on May 25, 1968 and lived in Breed his entire life where they raised their two children. He worked with his father and brother, Clair in the family business, Erb Carpentry Inc.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, shooting trap at the Breed Bird Busters Sportsman's Club and was an active member of the Suring Sportsman's Club and was in many community events. He will be remembered as a loving person.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy; a son-in-law, Rick (Julie) Berg; three grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Ethel) Erb, Al (Pat) Erb and Clair (LuAnn) Erb; a sister, Blanche (Ron) Brenwall; in-laws, Howard and Joan DeMaster; brothers-in-law, Tim (Zoe) DeMaster and Mike (Pam) DeMaster and many nieces; nephews and cousins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Berg; a son, Brian and a brother, Martin Erb.
Visitation was held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Friday, Feb. 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 pm. Visitation continued on Saturday morning, Feb. 11 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed from 9 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiated, followed by military honors. Interment will be in Breed Union Cemetery in Spring.
