Stephenson Board Approves Rescue Squad Contracts
Crivitz--The Stephenson Town Board regular meeting was held Feb. 8 presided over by Vice Chairman Solway. He led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisors present were Kikulski, Lieuwen, Solway and Stradal, treasurer Kempka, Attorney Coggins and Clerk Olson, along with 11 others present. Chairman Kudick was excused.
The agenda and minutes were approved.
Treasurer Kempka's financial report showed Jan. 31 balance of Bank North General Fund $81,652.64, Bank North Money Market Fund 546 $311,771.37, Bank North Fire Dept. Money Market Fund 362 $71,134.17, Nicolet Bank Tax Money Market $3,050,418.72, F&M Bank Depreciation Account $542,206.50, and Bank Mutual Investment CD $50,000.
Vouchers were presented for payment as well as EFT payments and withdrawals through February. Clerk Olson stated a letter was received from WPS concerning road projects for 2017. The letter was forwarded to the Public Works Superintendent to complete.
Department reports were given by Fire, Public Works, Building Inspector, Code Enforcer, Recycling, and Water Safety Patrol. Kikulski stated the person chosen for DPW mechanic has passed the background checks and the required physical. He will e giving his current place of employment notice on Friday and will tentatively begin work in three weeks.
A motion was made by Lieuwen to place an ad in the Peshtigo Times for an informal meeting to be held Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. concerning the new proposed Town Road Protection Ordinance. Lieuwen moved to advertise for one week for RFP's to finish the closure of the Orlando pit. A Class B combination liquor license was granted to Tony's Dock Side Bar & Grill LLC for the period of April 1, 2017 through June 30, 2017. Anthony Van Laanen was approved as agent for Tony's Dock Side Bar & Grill LLC.
Clerk Olson stated two invoices were sent to a hangar owner and the airport hangar lease, which was due Jan. 1 has still not been paid. Insurance has also expired. She asked for direction from the Board. Attorney Coggins stated in the past, the Board directed him to send a letter to the tenant which he will do. Jerry Ronowski asked how long they have to get out and Attorney Coggins stated that it would be according to State Statutes.
Supervisor Solway informed everyone that there are quite a few places in the Ordinances that reference "Director of Public Works". The new position created has the title of "Superintendent of Public Works". Rather than make changes on every page, he would like to place a page at the beginning of the Ordinances that states wherever the Ordinances refer to Director of Public Works, it is synonymous with Superintendent. Attorney Coggins stated something may be necessary to put in the paper so the public can view it first.
An operators license for Sean Gauthier was approved. Under public comments, Ryan Pomeroy stated that it seems like the Town is trying to keep trucks off their roads.
