THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Pat (Martens) Waselchuk, 90, of Appleton, passed away Friday, Feb. 17 at Renaissance Assisted Living.
Born Dec. 21, 1926 in Coleman, to Harry and Emma Martens, she married Dan Waselchuk on June 17, 1950.
An avid bridge player and golfer, she enjoyed watching sports and spending time with family and friends. She was a dedicated hospice care giver for over 35 years and a generous, fun-loving person with a good sense of humor.
She is survived by nine children, Peter (Terri) Waselchuk, Sue (Mike) Knier, Tom (Dana Johnson) Waselchuk, Mary (David) Rasmussen, Mark (Kari) Waselchuk, Judy (John) Wilson, Kathy (Jim) Ghere, Lori (Shenid Bhayroo) Waselchuk and Amy (Dan) Steckel; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Fern) Martens and Larry (Rita) Martens and a sister Mary (Richard) Ziemer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; three brothers, Lenny, Frank (Mavis) and Tom (Joyce) Martens; four sisters, Louise (Donald) Malmstadt, Evelyn (Bob) Bachhuber, Sr., Stephanie Martens and Denny (Ronald) Frank.
Visitation was held at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Appleton on Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Memorials have been established in her name for Boys and Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley or The Harbor House of Appleton. Wichmann Fargo Funeral Home of Appleton assisted the family with arrangements.
