Rev. Donald F. Wandersee
Rev. Donald Frederick Wandersee, 85, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Sunday, Feb. 19 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Menominee.
Born Aug. 22, 1931, to the late Fred and Dorothy (de Koekock) Wandersee, he married the former Edwina Anderson Machalk on Oct. 17, 1979. He graduated from Wartburg College, Waverly, Ia. and Northwestern Lutheran Seminary in Minneapolis, Mn.
He was called to serve St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Holy Trinity in Marshall, St. Mark in Jefferson, Ascension Church in Green Bay, St. Stephen's in Stephenson, Mi., Gethsemane in Wallace, Mi., Christ Church in Sharon and Shepherd of the Lake in Sayner.
The couple retired to Janesville and then to Menominee. While in Stephenson, he had been an adjunct professor of Botany and the UW-Marinette.
He is survived by his wife, Edwina; a son, Thomas (Linda) of Menomonie, Wi.; three daughters, Sharon (Bert Rogers) Blazier of Deming, N.M., Suzanne Wandersee of Dahlonega, Ga. and Katherine (Jerry McKenzie) Wandersee of Montclair, N.J.; two step-sons, Donald Machalk, Jr. of Stephenson and Daniel Machalk of Midland, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two brothers, Robert (Arlene) of Canby, Mn. and Richard (Shirley) of Anoka, Mn.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Winifred Wandersee and a step-son, David Machalk.
Friends may call at Bethel Lutheran Church in Menominee on Friday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral services at noon, with the Rev. Scott Ehle officiating. Memorial contributions to Bethel Lutheran Church are suggested. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
