Shirley Younger, 81, of Stiles, passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon, Feb. 26 at Bay Area Medical Center of an apparent heart attack.
Born Aug. 11, 1935, the oldest of eight children, to Raymond and Alice (Nass) Young, she attended Degantown Elementary School. She married William Younger in Oconto Falls on Sept. 10, 1955 and they raised eight children.
A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed caring and cooking for her family. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles and enjoyed needlepoint, puzzles and spending time on the swing her son Joe made for her. She will be remembered for her selfless nature, humble spirit and helping others.
Survivors are four sons, Dave, Joe and Paul Younger, all of Stiles and Pat (Jamie) Younger of Oconto; three daughters, Theresa Morrow, Stiles, Mary Younger, Green Bay and Carol Younger, Oconto Falls; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Younger, Lena; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard and Raymond Young, both of Gillett; four sisters, Marie Renel, Shawano, Bernice Courchaine, Gillett, Mary (Lyle) Rasmussen, Oconto Falls and Rose Ann Schubert, Krakow; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Young, Cecil, Clarabelle Younger, Stiles and Marion Younger, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1988; a son, Raymond Younger on Feb. 7, 2017; a brother, Norbert "Nubby" Young on Feb. 21, 2017; a son-in-law, Michael Morrow and an infant grandson, Allen Younger.
Visitation will be at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls on Friday, March 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles on Saturday, March 4 from 9:30 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Fr. Bob Karuhn will officiate followed by burial in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
