THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Glenn Stansfield, 80, of Marinette, passed away Monday, Feb. 27 at Aurora BayCare in Green Bay.
Born Aug. 29, 1936 in Menominee, Mi., to the late Winfred and Rose (Duffrin) Stansfield, he graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1955. On Dec. 26, 1955, he married Caroline "Cutchy" Ries at St. Joseph's Church in Walsh and she preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2015. He worked at Scott Paper Co. for 32 years, retiring at age 55 and owned and operated Stansfield Electric for over 30 years.
A member of SS. Joseph and Edward Parish, he also belonged to The Military Twenty Year Club, the 127th Infantry Veteran Association, the Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus and Porterfield Country Music Festival. He enjoyed hunting, cutting wood and driving to visit friends.
He is survived by two sons, Scott (Rebecca Larmay) Stansfield and Mike Stansfield, both of Marinette; a daughter, Cindy Stansfield of Sun City, Az.; significant other, MaryJane Austin of Marinette; a brother, Tom (Terry) Stansfield of DePere; a sister, Beverly (Dennis) DelSanto of Green Bay; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Cutchy, he was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Visitation was held at SS. Joseph and Edward Parish on Saturday, March 4 from 9 a.m. until time of a Funeral Mass at noon, with Rev. Jess Bedrol officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery with military honors provided by the Military Twenty Year Club. Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette assisted the family with arrangements.
