Brenda S. LaGassie, 59, of Marinette, passed away Thursday evening, March 9 at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee after a long battle with lung cancer.
Born Oct. 26, 1957 in Steubenville, Oh., she spent her early life there where she graduated from high school. She moved to Menominee/Marinette in 1977 where she lived since. She worked at KSU for 13 years until illness forced her retirement.
She became an angel for victims of lung cancer, offering an ear to people around the United States with the disease. A devoted, loving mother, her children and family were her main interest and was known as mom to many.
She is survived by her husband, Donald LaGassie; children, Tonya (Larry Cuff), William Treptow, Jr. (Heidi Connaher) and Patricia (Robbie Walcher); her extended children, Amanda LaGassie (Shawn Henry) and Andrew LaGassie; 10 grandchildren and two brothers, William Cook (Liz Cook) and Robert Cook.
Friends called at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Tuesday, March 14 from 4 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 5 p.m., with Pastor Mark Laatsch of Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating.
