THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Joyce (Pat) DeGroot, 93, of Green Bay, passed away Saturday, March 25.
Born Sept. 13, 1923 in Green Bay, she graduated from Menominee High School in 1941. She married Bernard DeGroot on Sept. 23, 1942 at St. Ann's Church in Menominee, Mi. and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1991.
She enjoyed cards, golfing, bowling, traveling, sports events, and time with family and friends. She was also an avid Packer, Badger and Brewers fan and a member of VFW Auxiliary #2037, Sullivan Wallen Post and Cooties.
She is survived by eight children and their spouses, Bernard DeGroot Jr., Jerry (Chris) DeGroot and Ellen (Greg) Drossart, all of Green Bay, Diane (Al) Leidig of Two Rivers, Patricia (Harley) Bopray of Algoma, Bill (Pam) DeGroot of Oshkosh, Mary (Russ) Fairbanks of Rogers City, Mi. and Rick (Annette) DeGroot of Kewaskum; a daughter-in-law, Maureen O' Kane; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Loyce and Gene Janquart and Nancy Nelson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; a son, Ron DeGroot; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl DeGroot; a grandson, Brent Vroman and a great-grandson, Ethan DeGroot.
Visitation was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Green Bay on Tuesday March 28 from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial was in King Veterans Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name at the funeral home, 701 N. Baird St. Green Bay, WI 54302. Malcore Funeral Home of Green Bay assisted the family with arrangements.
