Carolyn M. Stuart, 91, of Upper Pine Creek, passed away Monday, March 20 at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.
Born March 23, 1925 in Upper Pine Creek, to the late Fred and Ida (Norgren) Furno, she was a vibrant girl and worked for Gimbels in Milwaukee as a purchaser. She dreamed of living in California and spent 50 years in Burbank as a restaurant owner, lab technician, and a landscaper.
She loved the mountains and nature and she returned home in1990, which brought her even closer to nature. She enjoyed feeding the wild turkeys, deer, coyotes, chipmunks, squirrels and many birds, including a raven which she tamed. The neighbor's dog would visit her and she loved spending time petting and feeding the dog.
She is survived by a sister, Gloria (Ronald "Hubba") Brault of Niagara; a sister-in-law, Betty Furno of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Stuart; two brothers, Elroy and Elmer "Lub" Furno and a sister, Lorraine Barker.
A private graveside service will be held at Cemetery Park. Erickson Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain is assisting the family with arrangements.
