Michael R. Stimac
Michael R. Stimac, 74, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Friday, March 24.
Born May 24, 1942 in Detroit, Mi., to the late Nicholas and Sophia "Jo" (Kundrat) Stimac, he graduated from St. Mary's of Redford High School in 1960 and continued to be a lifelong learner. He married Janet Pearson on April 18, 1970 in Rochester, Mi. and worked at General Motors for almost 40 years until retiring as an electrician in 2007.
After retirement, they moved to Menominee to be close to their grandchildren. He had a special bond with his son-in-law and together with his grandson, they hunted and fished. He also loved playing games with his granddaughter, but mostly cherished time with his wife, daughters and his dogs.
He always had a smile and enjoyed talking with people, joking around and a good prank now and then. A faith filled member of Resurrection Catholic Church, he volunteered at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel in Marinette.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; two daughters, Melissa (Don) Park of Menominee and Rebecca (Jack) White of Cannon Beach, Or.; a sister, Diana (Michael) James of Tecumseh, Mi. and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place at Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home in Menominee on Thursday, March 30 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m., with Fr. Brad Sjoquist presiding. Visitation will continue on Friday, March 31 at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Parish. Fr. Sjoquist will preside with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. Memorials can be made to the Menominee Animal Shelter, N184 Haggerson Ct., Menominee, Mi.49858.
