THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Town of Peshtigo Fights Blaze
The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department responded to a barn fire at the Daniel Meyer residence at N2138 Keller Road on Thursday, March 30. Fire Chief Mike Folgert said his department was paged out at 11:02 a.m. Firefighters were on scene within 10 minutes and faced flames coming through the roof and the barn already partially collapsed. Five trucks and 16 firefighters from the Town plus one engine company from Marinette Fire Department responded. BAMC Paramedics and ERS stood by and MRSO provided traffic control. No injuries were reported. No one was home at the time and the fire was called in by a neighbor after it had been burning for some time. All animals made it out of the barn including the chickens, one miniature horse and a goat. A number of caged rabbits were removed to safety by firefighters. All contents were destroyed including two classic Harley Davidson motorcycles, a 4-wheeler, one snowmobile, a riding lawnmower, hunting and camping equipment, firewood, cedar posts, hay and sawn lumber. The department cleared the scene at 4:09 p.m., according to Town of Peshtigo Fire Chief Mike Folgert.
