Susan M. Meyer, 66, of Blue Island, passed away suddenly Saturday, March 4 at her home.
Born April 20, 1950 in Wausaukee, to Charles and Margaret (Youdelis) Meyer, she graduated from Crivitz High School and moved to Chicago where she was a longtime resident. She attended DePaul night school and trained to be a bookkeeper. She had several bookkeeping jobs, including the Carpenters' Union and The Chicago Club, until she retired.
She enjoyed painting, gardening and home projects, but especially loved her pets. She had a gentle soul and will be missed by all.
Surviving are a sister, Jeanne (Fred) Marhoefer of Olympia Fields; two nieces, Peggy Marhoefer of Naperville, Ill. and Lisa Marhoefer of Chicago Heights, Ill.; a nephew, Jim Marhoefer of Scottsdale, Az.; a grand-niece, Lauren Marhoefer of Tucson, Az. and many cousins in Illinois, Wisconsin, North Dakota, New Mexico and Florida.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marge Lilley and a brother, Gary Meyer.
A family commemorative service was held in Chicago on March 26. Her ashes will be buried in the Wausaukee Cemetery on Saturday, May 13 at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Fred Fferugga of St. Augustine Church in Wausaukee officiating. After internment of the ashes, a memorial lunch will be held for family and friends at Newingham's Supper Club in Wausaukee.
