THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Donald "Don" Jakups, 85, of Crivitz, passed away Tuesday, April 25 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born Feb. 14, 1932 in Norway, Mi., to the late Charles and Mary (Stumbris) Jakups, he moved to Crivitz in 1952 and owned and operated Don's Sinclair Gas Station and Sport Shop for 26 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the steel guitar, collecting antique clocks and an occasional trip to the Casino.
He is survived by seven children, Donna (Bernard) McVane of Porterfield, Darlene (Milan) Kvaca of Pembine, Joanne (Tom) DeVetter and Jody Jakups, both of Crivitz, John (Yvonne) Jakups of Middle Inlet, James (Laura) Jakups of Wausaukee and Jayme (Veronica Garrison) Jakups of Marinette; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Charles (Pauline) Jakups and Gerri (Todd) LaCount and two daughters-in-law, Diane Jakups and Sally Hastings.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Joe; a daughter, Rose Ann and siblings, Jim (Joetta) and Eddie (Violet).
Family and friends may call on Friday April 28 at St. Augustine Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Fr. John Hephner will officiate with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery in Wausaukee. Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee is assisting the family with arrangements.
