William W. Van Domelen
William Wright Van Domelen, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 25.
Born Sept. 6, 1929 in Menominee, Mi, to the late William and Margaret (Furst) Van Domelen, he graduated from Menominee High School in 1947 and attended St. Thomas University. He married the former Doris Marineau in Newberry, Mi. and served in the Michigan National Guard.
A member of Resurrection Parish and the American Legion Post 146, he worked at Van Domelen's Furniture in Green Bay, was manager of Van Domelen's Furniture and William VanDomelen Electric Motor Works in Menominee, and was president and owner of VG&R Furniture, retiring in 1983.
He will be remembered for his salesmanship and making people happy with his generosity. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Doris; two daughters, Susan Van Domelen of Laguna Hills, Ca. and Lori Van Domelen of Oshkosh; four sons, Steve (Mary)
Van Domelen of Tigard, Or. and Bill (Mary) Van Domelen, David "Whitey" Van Domelen and Tom Van Domelen and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Van Domelen, all of Menominee; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Allard of Franklin; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul and a brother, Wayne.
Per his family's wishes, private services will be held. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette. Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established in his name and memorials can be given to Cancer Research at Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, Minn. 55905.
