THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Walter Sucharsky, 98, of Lena, passed away Monday, May 8.
Born July 3, 1918 in the Town of Lena, to Joseph and Mary (Dembroski) Sucharsky, he attended Lena School and graduated in 1935. He farmed most of his life on Jagiello Road in Lena and drove school bus for Lena School District.
He belonged to the Lena Sportmans Club and Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club for many years. He was never married, his true love was God and his church, St. Anne Catholic Church. An avid reader at age 90, he continued reading until recently.
He is survived by many special nieces; nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews who enjoyed spending time with him.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Matilda Derong, Celia St.Claire, Frances Rickert and Mary Carriveau and three brothers, Chester, Clarence and Stephen Sucharsky.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Annes Catholic Church in Lena on Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. until time of the service at 11 a.m. Fr. Nonito Barra will officiate with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Spruce. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Lena is assisting the family with arrangements.
