Ruth A. Harmer
Ruth A. (Fonferek) Harmer, 88, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at a local nursing facility.
Born June 16, 1928 on the family farm in Breed, to the late Frank and Pearl Fonferek, she married Douglas F. Harmer on Nov. 15, 1947 at Mount Olive Lutheran Parsonage in Suring and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1957.
She worked at Americana Nursing Home for 25 years and was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay. She will be remembered for her quiet, kind and gentle spirit, with her motto of "Treat others the way you would want to be treated, and always remember to say thank you."
She is survived by a son, Gary (Susan) Harmer, Green Bay; a daughter, Julie (Paul) Tushinski, De Pere; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Joseph (Audrey) Fonferek, Suring and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; an infant son, Gene; three sisters, Ruby, Lorraine and Mavis; a daughter-in-law, Judith and other members of the Fonferek and Harmer families.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay on her birthday, Friday, June 16, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Julie Wrubbel-Lange will officiate and interment will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory can be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Green Bay.
