Leone B. (Ekholm) Edquist, 93, of Menominee passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Rennes Health Center-East.
Born April 16, 1924 in Washburn, to the late Enok and Edith (Wickstrom) Ekholm, she graduated from Ondossagon School in Ashland and UW-Stout. She taught Home Economics at Menominee High School and Middle School and married Donald Edquist on Aug. 5, 1950 in Ashland.
A member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Menominee, she taught Sunday school, was active in the quilting for Lutheran World Relief, the Ruth Circle and was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. She enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, sewing and playing Scrabble, Upwards and Trivial Pursuit.
She is survived by three daughters, Joanne (Stephen) Fredericks of Holland, Mi., Carol (Rick) Potter of Kalamazoo, Mi. and Barbara (Steve) Golz of Marinette; three sisters, Amy Adams of Rhinelander, Shirley Eriksen of Ashland and Lois Carr of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Harley (Jackie) Ekholm of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and a sister, Doris Gustafson.
Visitation was held at Bethel Lutheran Church Menominee on Tuesday, June 27 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at noon. Pastor Scott Ehle officiated with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home of Menominee assisted the family with arrangements.
