John M. Schaumberg age 86 of Athlestane passed away peacefully with his family by his side Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Rennes Health Care-East in Peshtigo.
He was born to the late John and Mercedes (Armstrong) Schaumberg on April 25, 1931. John served in the Marines during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 66 in Athelstane for many years.
He married Nancy Jahns and the couple owned and operated Schaumberg Tavern on the Peshtigo River for 13 years (now Dockside). His wife preceded in death November 16, 2012 and they were married 58 years. John loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed golfing.
Surviving are his two daughters, Sheryl (Harold) Tesch and Melanie Schaumberg (significant other, Bob Hendricks); also grandsons, Brad Tischendorf, Shane (Jen) Shepeck and Joshua Pirkle; Great Grandchildren, Zoey Tischendorf, Michael Shepeck and Lily Shepeck and last, Grand puppy Elsie Mae.
Family will greet relative and friends on Saturday, July 22 at the Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Crivitz from 10 A.M. until time of a family service at 12 noon. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Athelstane with Military Rites by the American Legion Post 66.
