Maxine M. Chapman
Maxine M. Chapman, 79, of Niagara, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Rennes Health Care Center-DePere after a long, hard fought battle with medical issues of pneumonia to congestive heart failure.
Born March 18, 1938 in Des Moines, Ia., to the late James and Florence (Newbury) Kelly, she graduated from Pembine High School as Valedictorian in 1956.
She loved hummingbirds and had an large collection and everyone knew she would welcome a hummingbird as a gift, but mostly enjoyed time with family and friends. She retired from making a living doing crafts; selling wooden figurines, shelves and shadow boxes. Wooden items purchased from the Birchwood Mall craft shows were probably made by her.
She is survived by two children, Rickie Chapman of Green Bay and Vickie (Joel) Swanton of Kennewick, Wa.; a sister, Iola Kelly of Crivitz; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren:
She was preceded in death by a son Paul David Chapman in January 2017 as she was also fighting for her life; six brothers, David, Kenneth, Alfred, Merlin, Jim and Jack Kelly and two sisters, Sarah Knabenshue and Jeanene Dowd.
Visitation was held at Erickson Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain on Monday, July 17 from 4 p.m. until time of a Celebration of Life Service at 6 p.m.
