Lawrence Edward Buhrandt, 86, of Suring, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 unexpectedly at home.
Born Nov. 1, 1930 in the Town of How, to the late Ernst and Lydia (Pfieffer) Buhrandt, he attended Hayes Brook School and St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Suring High School in 1948. On Oct. 27, 1951, he married Darlene Gardebrecht at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes and they lived in the Suring and Hayes areas for all 65 years of their marriage.
He worked at Manthei's Cheese Factory, Ford Garage and Suring Co-op, before purchasing three farms in the Town of How. He enjoyed farming when he wasn't hunting, fishing or cooking maple syrup.
He served as board chairperson for the Town of How for many years, town Fire Warden for 50 years, Oconto County Board Supervisor for 13 years and was on the Suring Mercantile Board for many years. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; five children, Steve (Judy), Ruth (Steve) Giese, Linda (Steve) Druckrey, Larry and Jason (Tammy); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation was held Sunday, July 23 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 4:30 p.m. Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiated with interment in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring assisted the family with arrangements.
