Herbert R. Johnson, 88, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at home with family by his side.
Born Nov. 27, 1928, to the late John and Jennie (Carlson) Johnson in Marinette, he graduated from Marinette High School in 1946 and married Sally Thompson on July 1, 1950 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran. He served in the United Stats Army during the Korean War and worked at Marinette Marine retiring in 1991 after 25 years.
A member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menominee and the American Legion, he enjoyed watching sports, golf, bus trips and time playing with the grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sally of Menominee; two sons, Michael Johnson of Menominee and Pastor Randall (Annette) Johnson of Perry, Mi.; two daughters, Debra Meyer of Tulsa, Ok. and Sandra (Jim) Bickel of Menominee; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Rudolph, Curtis and Carl; four sisters, Mildred, June, Lucille and Phyliss and a granddaughter, Sarah.
Visitation was held at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menominee on Monday, July 31 from 10:30 a.m. until time of the Memorial Services at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Cole officiated with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home of Menominee assisted the family with arrangements.
