Gerbyshak Family Reunion Sept. 30
Descendants of the late Stanislaus and Pauline Gerbyshak are making plans to meet for a family reunion starting at noon Saturday, Sept. 30 at St. Mary Catholic Church Hall in Crivitz.
Marilyn Zuehlke, a Gerbyshak granddaughter, is organizing the event, which will include a luncheon catered by Lynda's Sky Harbor II from about 1 to 3 p.m., and end with the 7 p.m Mass that evening at St. Mary Church. She said this will be the family's first reunion in about 25 years.
Anyone planning to attend should contact Zuehlke on or before Friday, Sept. 1 for reservations. She can be reached by mail at 1529 Kaufmann Avenue, Sheboygan, WI. 53081, or by phone at 920-946-4102 or 920-783-8014.
Zuehlke said Stanislaus and Pauline Gerbyshak arrived in America from Poland in 1902. They settled first in Pennsylvania and then came to the Crivitz area in about 1909 or 1911 to farm and raise their family, which included 13 children that lived to adulthood.
Most of the 13 children moved to other areas, but about four remained in the Crivitz area. One of the Gerbyszak cousins who stayed in the local area is Audrey Richards, who was a home ec teacher at Crivitz High School for many years and now lives in Porterfield.
