Sheldon M. Johnson
Issue Date: August 16, 2017
Sheldon M. Johnson, 93, passed away, Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 after a short illness.
Born March 20, 1924 in Chicago, to the late Lawrence and Marion (Crisculio) Johnson, he was the youngest of six boys. He left high school to enlist in the United States Army and was a combat veteran, serving in Germany, France and Belgium.
He worked as a tool and die maker at Heick Diecast Company and retired in 1988 when he and his wife Lorraine moved to Marinette.
He enjoyed fishing, auctions, garage sales, collecting stuff and following the great-grandchildren on social media, but the 2015 Old Glory honor flight was his greatest joy. He was known to family and friends as "Papa" and will be remembered for his kindness and mild manner.
He is survived by two sons, Richard (Carmen) Johnson of Marinette and Michael (Yolanda) Johnson of Lake Carrol, Ill.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine in 2002 and four brothers, Victor (Caroline), Daniel (Louise), Irving (Elaine) and Charles and Lawrence.
Per his request, no visitation or services will be held. Honor him by thinking of him as the fun loving energetic man he was and do something kind for a veteran. Thanking a man for his service is the greatest honor, and most important thing you can do. Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home of Peshtigo is assisting the family.
