Milton F. Christensen, 97, of Suring, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017 at Woodland Village Nursing Home in Suring.
Born June 3, 1920, to the late Louis and Helga Christensen in Hickory Corners, he married the love of his life, Irene Kain, on June 25, 1942 at Oconto Falls Methodist Church.
They lived near Hickory for many years and retired from farming when their son, Dan, took over in 1976. He was then the official "garbologist" at Maple Valley Recycling Center for many years.
Members of Maple Valley Community Church, he served as an Elder Emeritus in the church until the time of his death. He was a faithful follower of his Lord Jesus and leaves a legacy of faith and family with loved ones.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, time with family and will be remembered by his family as the greatest of the greatest generation.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary (Oliver) Blosser of Buffalo, Mn.; four sons, Dan (Alice) Christensen of Suring, Dale (Robin) Christensen of Elton, David (Vicky) Christensen of Eagle River and Ed (Lisa) Christensen of Oconto Falls; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren with more on the way and a sister, Doris, of West Bend.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; a grandson, Daniel Christensen, Jr.; an infant daughter, Sally Ann and a sister, Mable.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Maple Valley Community Church from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Bill Krauss will officiate with interment to follow at Hickory Cemetery. Memorial gifts to Maple Valley Community Church are appreciated.
