Reverend Father Francis P. Reinke, 86, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017.
Born Aug. 13, 1931 in Stangelville, to the late John and Frances (Spitzer) Reinke, he attended Kewaunee High School and studied classics at St. Procopius College in Lisle, Ill., now known as Benedictine University. He studied theology at St. John Seminary, Collegeville and St. Paul Seminary, Saint Paul, Mn. Bishop Stanislaus V. Bona ordained Fr. Reinke on June 1, 1957 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay.
His first appointment was Assistant Pastor of St. Therese Parish, Appleton, then as Assistant Pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Parish, Oshkosh, and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Marinette. He was appointed Pastor of St. James Parish, White Lake in 1968, served as Pastor of SS Peter and Paul Parish, Institute, from 1972 to 1984 and then St. Joseph Parish, Kellnersville from 1986 to 1988.
Other parishes he served at were St. Patrick Parish, Lebanon, St. Mark Parish, Redgranite and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Poy Sippi. He retired from ministry in 2001.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, John L. and Judy Reinke, Kewaunee; nephews, Bob, Paul, Tom, Jean, John P. and Michael and their mother Elaine Reinke and Donald Reinke's wife, Fran and their children, David, Cathy, Ann and John.
He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Donald and his friend and caretaker, Marc Loehlein.
Reception of the body by the Regional Vicar, Very Rev. Tony Birdsall took place at St. Lawrence Parish in Stangelville on Monday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. with visitation until time of a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., led by Fr. Dennis Drury. Visitation continued at St. Therese (St. Lawrence site) in Stangelville on Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. until time of the Funeral Liturgy expressing faith and hope in the promised glory of the Lord's Resurrection at 11 a.m. Bishop Robert Morneau, Celebrant and Homilist officiated with burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Stangelville. Buchanan Funeral Home of Kewaunee assisted the family with arrangements.
