Nancy Lee Looney, 51, of Bellevue, formerly of Oconto, passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 from a lifelong struggle with diabetes.
Born Jan. 29, 1966 in Ashland County, to Kay Manning, who chose life and adopted her daughter to Thomas and Elizabeth Looney, she worked full-time in the food industry in the dietary department at Riverside Nursing Home in Oconto and later at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay.
She had many struggles with childhood diabetes and in recent years had amputation of several toes on her foot. Even in sorrows, she experienced joys of the birth of her only son, Edward Looney in 1989 and witnessed his ordination to the Catholic Priesthood in 2015. She traveled to his parishes for Mass, fish fries, or picnics.
She enjoyed attending the State Fair in Milwaukee with friends, talking to acquaintances on the phone, her pets and time with friends.
She will be missed by those who knew her, especially her son, Fr. Edward Looney of Brussels and many close friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her best friend, Paula Powell and many friends.
Friends can pay their respects and offer prayers for her at Holy Trinity Parish, 716 Madison St., Oconto on Friday, Sept. 22 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Church on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. until time of a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. officiated by her son, Fr. Edward Looney and concelebrated by brother priests. Burial will be in the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
