Joseph E. Truitt
Joseph Edward Truitt, 72, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay during a surgery to improve his heart function.
Born Aug. 10, 1945 in Kansas, to the late Joseph F. and Bess (Sims) Truitt, after high school, he attended Northern Michigan University and left college to join the United States Marines. He served 2 full tours in Vietnam and served four years of active duty.
On Oct. 28, 1967, he married Jean Linsmeier in Menominee and worked at Marinette Marine as a welder and electrician. He also served in the Army National Guard for over 21 years.
An outdoorsman, he was active in the NRA and Whitetails Unlimited and enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, all types of hunting and the Packers.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean; a daughter, Christine (Trevor) Bilgo of DePere; a son, Joe (Kadie) Truitt of Ingalls, Mi.; three grandchildren; a brother, Burt (Leanne) Truitt; a sister-in-law, Denise Truitt; brothers-in-law, Ray (Bonnie) Linsmeier, Jim (Mary) Linsmeier and Richard (Betty) Linsmeier and extended family, Thaddeus "Ted" Hillbruner and Steve (Wendy) Swanson and their children, Kyle and Kayla.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Truitt.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Crivitz on Friday, Sept. 22 from 4 p.m. until time of Military Service performed by the American Legion at 6 p.m. Burial will follow in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
