Roy H. Wicinski
Roy Henry Wicinski, 87, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Born Dec. 16, 1929 in Manistee, Mi., to the late Henry and Constance "Gusty" (Krus) Wicinski, he attended St. Joseph Grade School in Manistee and graduated from Manistee High School in 1947. He married Janice E. Hedlund on July 11, 1952 in Nagoya, Japan and she preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2009. He served in the United States Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant from 1947 until a discharge on July 31, 1972.
He worked for one year for the United States Postal Service and in 1973 began employment with the National Weather Service as a meteorologist until retiring in 1985. He was a life member of the Menominee V.F.W. Post and the American Legion Post.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Porter of Parker, Co.; two sons and daughters in-law, Tom and Beverly Wicinski of Ottawa, Ill. and Rob and Gina Wicinski of Geneva, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and special friends, Tina Van Cleve and Roy Bauchan.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Salkowski.
Graveside services will be held at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee, Mi. on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Pablo Martinez officiating. Graveside military honors will be given by the members of the Manistee County United Veterans Council Ritual Squad. Donations in his name are preferred and appreciated for the Fisher House Wisconsin, 500 W. National Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53295. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee, Mi. is assisting the family with arrangements.
