Dale R. Umentum
Dale R. Umentum, 63, of Suring, formerly of Green Bay, passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 at home after a courageous 30 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born Dec. 11, 1953 in Green Bay, to the late Peter and Gladys (Puyleart) Umentum, he married Sharon Lynn Berg on July 8, 1977 and they were together for 40 years. He served in the United States Marines and then owned and operated his own ornamental railing business until with MS he could no longer work.
He enjoyed traveling, playing cards with family and friends, getting out of the house as much as his disease would allow and eating out with his wife at their favorite spots, Ziggey's Inn in Green Bay, and Washington Inn in Cecil. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.
He is survived by his wife and primary caretaker, Sharon; a daughter, Erin (Jon) Keup; a son, Craig R. Umentum; two grandchildren; daughter from a previous marriage, Monica Parma and her family; six siblings, Jack (Katie) Umentum, Jan Larson, Gerry Umentum, Mary Adlebush, Julie Umentum and Peter (Tina) Umentum; a sister-in-law, Carol Umentum; in-laws, Darrel Zimmerman, Cindi (Dennis) Ferdon, Bob (Dawn) Berg, Jim (Cindy Westphal) Berg, Rick (Julie) Berg; and many nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, John and Vi Berg; a brother, Don Umentum; sisters and brothers-in-law: Gail Umentum, Charlie Adlebush, Lisa Berg and recently, Debbie Zimmerman and a nephew, Greg Umentum.
Family and friends visited at Proko Wall Funeral Home in Green Bay on Friday, Sept. 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Suring on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 10:30 a.m. Interment with full military honors followed in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
