Raymond "Ray" M. Pratt
Raymond "Ray" M. Pratt, 86, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at home surrounded by family.
Born Jan. 4, 1931 in Stephenson, Mi., to the late Matthew and Lena (Wagner) Pratt, he graduated from Stephenson High School in 1949. After graduation he served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War Conflict. On June 18, 1955, he married Myrna Gerue at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Stephenson.
He worked for 28 years for the Menominee County Road Commission operating heavy equipment. A member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, he belonged to the Stephenson Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years and also the VFW, the DAV, American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed time with his grandchildren, making maple syrup, hunting, fishing, camping and making tables and chairs.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrna; three children, Rae Lynn (Ken) Thoune of Stephenson, Bruce (Diane) Pratt of Green Bay and Melissa (James) Shafer of Norway, Mi.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Harold, Clarence, Mary and Celia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson from 2 p.m. until time of Military Honors by the American Legion at 5:15 p.m., followed by Prayers of Transfer. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 6 p.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Timock officiating. Burial will be in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
