S. Arthur Leider
S. Arthur Leider, 84, of Marinette, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 at Rennes Health Care Center-East, with his son by his side.
Born May 5, 1933, to the late Arthur and Loretta (Schultz) Leider in Birnamwood, after graduation, he served during the Korean War from May 22, 1952 to May 9, 1956.
On July 24, 1953, he married the former Shirley Nauta in the Town of Easton and she preceded him in death on June 24, 2000. He had a career of being a long haul truck driver. A member of Porterfield Lutheran Church, he also belonged to the Elks Lodge# 1313. He enjoyed fly fishing and duck hunting in his early years, but mostly was proud to watch his grandchildren play sports, from the little ones through college.
He is survived by a son, Dale (Vicky) Leider of Marinette; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth R. Leider; a son, Dean and two daughters, Sandra and Peggy Lynn.
Visitation was held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Friday, Sept. 22 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visitation continued on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Porterfield Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until tiem of the funeral services at 11 a.m., with Pastor Christina Forsythe officiating. Burial was in Forest Cemetery in Birnamwood with Military Honors provided by the Darling-Gunderson American Legion Post #341.
