Esther Anna Mueller, 94, of Gillett, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017.
Born May 26, 1923 in the Town of Gillett with her twin sister, Emma Anna, to Carl and Hulda Mueller, they were raised on a family farm until 1938 when they began working at a grocery store. They ran Mueller's Supermarket which they owned and managed with their brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Kay Mueller.
She and her twin were always together, wore identical clothes and ate the same food. They enjoyed bingo, eating out with friends and playing cards, but especially good times at the cottage on Shawano Lake with relatives and friends. They took many bus trips, visited the Bahamas and Hawaii twice and went to Venezuela.
Longtime members of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, they sold poppies, were good Christians, active members of the former Immanuel Lutheran Church, now Faith United Lutheran Church and volunteered for everything.
She is survived by an aunt, Vivian Mueller of Oshkosh; nieces and nephews, Darlene (John) Olson and Marilyn Mueller, both of Gillett, Gene (Judi) Schuettpelz of Watertown, Duane (LuAnn) Schuettpelz of Madison, Gary (Roz) Schuettpelz of Rhinelander and Kevin (Jackie) Schuettpelz of Pulaski; 15 great nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Emma; a brother, Raymond Mueller and his wife Kay; a sister, Viola Schuettpelz and her husband, Len and a sister, Sylvia, who passed away as a child.
Friends and relatives called at Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service at noon. Pastor John Laatsch officiated with interment in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Legacy Funeral Home of Gillett assisted the family with arrangements.
