William J. Bero, Jr.
William J. "Bill" Bero, Jr., 92, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 at Brewster Village in Appleton.
Born Feb. 26, 1925 in Menominee, Mi., to the late William J. and Florence (Beland) Bero, he married Mary Cahee on Nov. 28, 1946 and she preceded him in death on April 14, 1990. He then married Elizabeth "Betty" Wohlers on July 26, 1993 and she passed away on Oct. 26, 2016. He served in the United States Army during World World II and was a proud family man, veteran and Packer fan.
In 1949, he graduated from Michigan Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and joined Industrial Insulation Corporation of Wisconsin and in 1973 purchased the corporation where he became an industry leader and was a past president of MICA.
An avid fisherman, gardener, bowler and golfer, he was a generous volunteer and supporter with the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, the Serra Club, his childrens schools, church and many charitable organizations.
Survivors include five children, Patricia (Paul Theyel) Bero, Colleen (Curt) Sponberg, William (Patty) Bero III, John (Vicki) Bero and David Bero; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald "Jerry" (Alice) Bero; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends and Betty's children; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Peter Bero.
Friends called at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Appleton on Monday, Oct. 9 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. Fr. Gerald Falk officiated with entombment in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial has been established for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Wichmann Fargo Funeral Home of Appleton assisted the family with arrangements.
