THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Robert Hinz, 91, of Marinette, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 12, 2017 at the Luther Home in Marinette.
Born Aug. 23, 1926 in Oshkosh, to Karl Hinz and Vera (Clark) Hinz, he lived there until 1934 when the family moved to Marinette where he attended Garfield School and graduated from Marinette High School in 1944. He served in the United States Army in Japan and the Philippines.
He married the former Alyce Bailey on Feb. 14, 1953. After retiring as a custodian from Marinette High School, they enjoyed many trips to Florida and Lake Havasu City, Az.
He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., the Marinette Elks Lodge and former member of Little River Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Alyce; a sister, Betty Minzlaff of Marinette; a brother, Don of Boulder, Co. and many nieces and nephews.
Friends called at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m. Chaplain Brooks Darrah of Heartland Hospice conducted the service with entombment in Forest Home Mausoleum. Memorials in his name are appreciated for the Menominee Animal Shelter or Rainbow House.
