David J. Herrick
David J. Herrick, 72, of Florence, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at Florence Health Services in Florence.
Born Aug. 13, 1945 in Waukesha, to the late Marvin and Grace (Heil) Herrick, he grew up there and graduated from Waukesha High School in 1963, where he was named an All American as a diver.
After graduation, he served in the United States Marines. He received an honorable discharge and then earned a History degree from Platteville State College. He later graduated with a Law degree from University of South Dakota.
He married Anna Savino on Sept. 25, 2009 in Spread Eagle and was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain, Mi. An attorney in Niagara for over 40 years, he also served as District Attorney for Florence County for 10 years.
He was a court commissioner for Florence County, published in law review, served on the Board of Directors for the First National Bank of Niagara, was a member of the Wisconsin State Bar and enjoyed woodworking and cutting grass, but especially time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Savino-Herrick, Spread Eagle; two sons, Andrew Herrick and Matthew Herrick, both of Florence; three step-sons, Michael, Chicago, Ill., Mitchell (Christy), Virginia Beach, Va. and Edward, Madison; a brother, George (Jimmie) Herrick, Upland, Ca.; a grandson and many nieces; nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held at Jacobs Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence on Monday, Oct. 16 from 4 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 6:30 p.m., with Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial took place on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 9:30 a.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery in Florence.
