Marcella Lillian (Casper) Meyer, 99, of Pound, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 at home surrounded by family.
Born Jan. 2, 1918, to the late Michael and Catherine (Burg) Casper, she met her future husband, Wilfred Mathias Meyer at a barn dance and they married on Nov. 18, 1944. She retired from Coleman Products in 1983 with a perfect work record.
Until recently, she was an active member of St. Anne Parish and St. Leo Parish in Pound and was known for her "Minnie Pearl" at St. Francis of Assisi Christmas Program. She enjoyed sewing, singing, gardening, fishing, casino trips and was known to plant a flower or tree and move it without it dying.
Surviving are six children, Judy Kirsch, Mike (Terri) Meyer, Wayne (Carrie) Meyer, Al (Tina) Meyer, Roger (Gail) Meyer and Pat (Lynn) Meyer; 16 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was the last of the original Meyer and Casper families.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Leon Lewandowski and all of her brothers and sisters.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Anne Catholic Church in Coleman on Friday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Fr. Nonito Barra will officiate followed by inurnment at St. Leo Catholic Cemetery in Pound. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Coleman is assisting the family with arrangements.
