Born May 18, 1928 in Menominee, Mi., one of 16 children, he served in three branches of the military and earned a Commendation Ribbon with Combat "V" as a hospital corpsman attached to a Marine infantry company in Korea. He moved to the San Fernando Valley in California in 1966 and married Joan in 1967 where they started a family.
He worked as a registered nurse until retiring in 1992. He enjoyed volunteering for charities, genealogy, antique collecting, birdwatching, and crossword puzzles. A devout Catholic, he loved singing in area church choirs and other singing groups.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan; four children, David (Ann-Laurel), Jean (Salim) Arkin, Rachel (Enrique) Velarde and Monica; six grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence Jr., Billy (Joan), Donald and Gordon (Ardelle) and many neighbors; choirmates and friends.
